That's right, today was my very first sewing lesson, and I couldn't be more excited! It went really well. It was a one on one class about the veerrry basics - Just what I needed! What inspired me to try out the long lost art of sewing was Ms. Mia. && my mother, my mother in law, my grammie & my aunt - they are all so talented in many ways! I can remember growing up, watching my mother sew together a quilt to send to my dad while he was over seas... Sitting in the recliner next to my gram as she taught me to cross stitch... Listening to Josh talk about how his mom would make all of their clothes when they were growing up & one year made the whole family M&Ms for Halloween. Children remember these things, and I would like my kiddos to look back on their childhood, remembering their Mumma sewing their Halloween costume together or making new sheets for their "BIG GIRL" bed... stuff like that. In any case, I wanted to try it out before hand,to see if it really was my cup of tea. I LOVE IT !
I have my next lesson on Friday which I will actually be working on my very own project: Crib sheets, baby bib & burp cloth. I have found the cutest fabric at JoAnns that I cannot wait to put to use.
Other projects I have on my list are:
car seat cover
shopping cart baby cover
changing mat
receiving blankets
quilt
...and that's all I can think of as of now. Starting out small.
